8th Council Meeting
held on 6–9 September 2007 in Jáchymov (Czechia)

Participants of the meeting were delegates from Austria, Belgium/Flanders, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, Turkey and the USA.
Lecture on copyright of articles and artwork in membership journals of AS societies.
Proposal of ASIF survey on the ASAS/EULAR recommendations for the management of AS, in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Jürgen Braun, Herne.
Presentation of "People with Arthritis and Rheumatism in Europe" (PARE) by Marjan Hudomalj, Slovenia.
Evening lecture on "ASIF Contributions to ankylosing spondylitis research and to ASAS (Assessment in Ankylosing Spondylitis International Working Group) by Prof. Dr. Ernst Feldtkeller
Report on "Aspects of investigations on AS" by Karel Vedral (Czechia)
Report on "Vision for the National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society (NASS) in Great Britain" by Jane Skerrett (England) .
Report on "Major issues confronting the SpA patient in the USA" by Laurie Savage (USA).
Report on the "Birth of a national AS association in Canada" by Ken Mulholland (Toronto)
Presentation of a TV film on AS by Jon Erlendsson (Denmark)
Proposal of a research project "Do TNF-alpha blockers or other anti-rheumatic drugs taken by male and female patients with spondyloarthritis influence pregnancy outcome?" in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Monika Østensen in Bern
The program of the meeting included also a visit to the historical museum of Jáchymov or to the Svornost mining pit in Jáchymov, as well as an excursion to the castle of Becov nad Teplou.
After Seoirse Smith stepped down as member of the ASIF Executive Committee, Jane Skerrett (Great Britain) was elected as a new member of the Executive Committee.
